Devastator (198X), formerly Kazamu (and Shadow_of_Death before then), is the founder of (and was, for some time, the sole member of) Illusion Subs. Nicknamed Shad when still going by the name Shadow_of_Death by KazeKun, and Chad shortly after by Leon (in reference to Bleach).

Devastator originally worked as distro for Static-Subs (2004 Spring) and later Froth-Bite (2005 Fall), then joined Kaze no Koe Fansubs (October 2005) as an editor. Devastator used his time at KnKF to learn how to approach the work of each of the positions in fansubbing and became recognized by KazeKun to have potential for karaoke. After several arguments (December 2005 to April 2006) between the then leader and one of KnKF's translators, he left KnKF with 4 others, including the translator. Upon co-founding Fansub no Tameni (April 2006), he changed his name to Devastator.

With concerns regarding licensing amongst the co-founders of FnT, Devastator created a sub-group which had originally gone unnamed, which was intended to continue any series that got licensed which was still in the process of being worked on by FnT and to work on any series that were regarded as very probable targets of licensing. In November 2006, the group was ultimately named Illusion Subs. However, due to a failed joint, Illusion Subs remained unknown.

Due to frequent and vast disagreement with the other co-founders, and a lack of foreseeable potential in FnT, Devastator left the group (January 2007) and publicized Illusion Subs with the joint release of the Strike Witches prelude with the then Kuroisei Fansubs (formerly Anime Noobs Fansubbers, and now known as Kuro-Hana) and AnimeOmake, whom had originally proposed to work on the series back in 2006 Summer. The joint was delayed until February 2007 due to the necessity of a translator, which Kuroisei provided.
